Super 8 Filmmaker Branding & Website Design

Brand & Website Design for Super 8 Filmmaker

Nostalgic, Cinematic, and Unapologetically Noelle

There are some brand projects that just flow like water, soulful, warm, and full of vintage shimmer, and working with Noelle Mosolf was exactly that. A laid-back, wildly talented Super 8 filmmaker based in California, Noelle came to me ready to romanticize her life’s work through a brand and website that felt as nostalgic, whimsical, and heartfelt as the films she creates.

What unfolded? A creative process that felt like swimming off the coast of Italy, dreamy, cinematic, and full of old-world charm.

From the very beginning, I knew Noelle’s brand needed to feel like a visual love letter to her art. The kind that flickers like film, evokes memory and magic, and holds just enough mystery to make you lean in. Our goal wasn’t to “rebrand” for the sake of aesthetics; it was to craft an identity that felt true to who Noelle is and what she offers: raw, beautiful, heart-led storytelling captured on Super 8.

The result? A nostalgic brand that celebrates feminine magic, timeless storytelling, and a playful reverence for life’s most meaningful moments.

Custom Branding for a Super 8 Wedding Filmmaker

Vintage Magic Meets Modern Romance

The goal was to create a brand that felt like Noelle: dreamy, whimsical, and raw in the most beautiful way. Her films are full of laughter, windblown hair, bare feet, swaying dresses, and muscial voiceovers that feel like pages from a love letter. Her branding had to feel like that, too.

We built the identity around four core traits:

  • Nostalgic: rooted in vintage film aesthetics, hand-drawn textures, and Super 8 charm
  • Romantic: centered on the softness of connection and all forms of love
  • Playful: full of character, personality, and just the right amount of quirk
  • Lighthearted: no forced poses, no stiff visuals, just moments that feel like life

Color Palette: Retro Tones with a Soft Pop

We wanted the brand colors to feel like California sun, worn postcards, vintage Italian tiles, and Mediterranean film stills. The palette is a perfect balance of warm, dreamy, and grounded.

  • Deep Auburn – Evokes old cinema tones and grounded earthiness.
  • Tangerine Red – A pop of passion and movement.
  • Seafoam Teal – Calming and fresh, like ocean air.
  • Golden Olive – Vintage but lively. It adds a grounded funkiness that keeps the palette playful.
  • Dusty Cream – Timeless and soft.
  • Parchment – Airy and light.
  • Charcoal Black – Rich, cinematic grounding.
  • Classic White – Clean, crisp, and never competing.

The full color story creates space for warmth, softness, nostalgia, and magic — a palette that feels like memories made tangible.

Fonts: Editorial Romance with a Playful Twist

Typography played a huge role in Noelle’s brand. I wanted her words to feel just as expressive as her films.

We paired a mix of expressive and editorial typefaces to give Noelle’s brand a sense of both elegance and play.

  • Title Font – This title font has a vintage personality with just the right amount of drama. It feels like the opening title of a 1960s film.
  • Heading Font – Used for headings, this adds a soft contrast and leans into a more cinematic editorial vibe.
  • Accent Font – A looser, more romantic script used in smaller moments across the brand.
  • Pargraph Font – For easy-to-read body copy that still feels elevated and refined.

Together, these typefaces create a brand voice that feels lighthearted, nostalgic, and deeply human — just like Noelle.

Custom Illustrations Inspired by Super 8 Storytelling

A Visual Language as Personal as Her Films

The illustrations in Noelle’s brand were designed to feel like symbols pulled from vintage postcards, dream sequences, and tarot decks — each one layered with meaning, movement, and heart.

  • Dancing Mermaids in a Stained Glass Window – This artwork became the anchor of her logo suite. The mermaids represent feminine magic, creative freedom, her daughters and emotional storytelling. The illustrated stained glass background gives the feeling of watching light filter through memory.
  • Crystal Ball with Retro Symbols – A nod to Noelle’s intuitive approach to filmmaking. It feels part-witchy, part-wise, and fully aligned with the mystical mood her films evoke.
  • Noelle Sitting on Her GMC – A more playful, real-life piece of art that honors Noelle as a creative in motion. It’s nostalgic, grounded, and full of personality.

These illustrations aren’t just decorative. They help tell the story of her brand in a way that feels lived-in and layered.

Showit Website Design for a Super 8 Wedding Filmmaker

Editorial, Soulful, and Rooted in Connection

Designing Noelle’s Showit website was about creating an experience. We wanted the site to feel like stepping into her world warm, safe, and full of creative magic.

The structure is storytelling-forward. Visitors are guided through her philosophy, her approach, her films, and how working with her actually feels.

What the Website Needed to Do:

  • Feel nostalgic but elevated
  • Reflect her fun, emotional approach
  • Show off her portfolio in a way that feels like a love letter, not a sales pitch
  • Attract couples, families, and creatives looking for story-driven Super 8 films
  • Clearly communicate her services while building trust

Favorite Features:

  • Homepage: A playful but refined nod to vintage film
  • The About Page Design: Equal parts personal, fun, and heartfelt (just like her!)
  • Portfolio Layout: Feels like flipping through a family album meets watching a home movie
